가족관계의 등록 등에 관한 법률 제90조(등록불명자 등의 사망)

① 사망자에 대하여 등록이 되어 있는지 여부가 분명하지 아니하거나 사망자를 인식할 수 없는 때에는 경찰공무원은 검시조서를 작성ㆍ첨부하여 지체 없이 사망지의 시ㆍ읍ㆍ면의 장에게 사망의 통보를 하여야 한다. <개정 2020.12.22>

② 사망자가 등록이 되어 있음이 판명되었거나 사망자의 신원을 알 수 있게 된 때에는 경찰공무원은 지체 없이 사망지의 시ㆍ읍ㆍ면의 장에게 그 취지를 통보하여야 한다. <개정 2020.12.22>

③ 제1항의 통보가 있은 후에 제85조에서 정한 사람이 사망자의 신원을 안 때에는 그 날부터 10일 이내에 사망의 신고를 하여야 한다.
