선박법 제3조(선박톤수)

1. 국제총톤수: 「1969년 선박톤수측정에 관한 국제협약」(이하 "협약"이라 한다) 및 협약의 부속서(附屬書)에 따라 주로 국제항해에 종사하는 선박에 대하여 그 크기를 나타내기 위하여 사용되는 지표를 말한다.

2. 총톤수: 우리나라의 해사에 관한 법령을 적용할 때 선박의 크기를 나타내기 위하여 사용되는 지표를 말한다.

3. 순톤수: 협약 및 협약의 부속서에 따라 여객 또는 화물의 운송용으로 제공되는 선박 안에 있는 장소의 크기를 나타내기 위하여 사용되는 지표를 말한다.
